| A list of available adapter plates, arranged alphabetically by telescope manufacturer, follows this introductory material. Every Coronado SolarMax filter requires an optional adapter plate to mount the filter onto a telescope. The filter threads into the adapter plate and the plate in turn fits over or threads into the aperture of the scope, depending on the telescope model. Some adapter plates are deep friction-fit slip-on plates that slide onto a refractor’s lens shade and hold the filter on-axis. Felt lines the lip of the adapter plate. Friction between the felt and the telescope lens shade holds the adapter plate in place. A second type threads the SolarMax filter into a refractor or small catadioptric scope’s front cell. It holds the filter on-axis or off-axis, whichever is appropriate for your particular telescope and filter combination. The third type is a shallow slip-on plate that holds a SolarMax filter off-axis on a larger catadioptric scope or reflector’s front cell. Thumbscrews on the adapter’s felt-lined shallow lip hold this adapter in place. The adapter plates listed below are the only ones readily available. Each fits one specific filter and telescope combination. There is no generic or universal adapter. If you change telescopes, you will have to purchase a new adapter plate to use your existing filter on the new scope. If you can’t find your filter/telescope combination listed below, Coronado can fabricate a custom plate, generally of the deep slip-on type. Specify the filter model, telescope model, and the accurately measured outer diameter of your telescope's optical tube when ordering such a custom plate. We will quote the cost of the custom plate for your approval before fabrication begins.
