| This economical medium long focal length 2" eyepiece, with long eye relief for eyeglass use, is usable with any telescope type that uses a 2” focuser or star diagonal, under virtually any seeing conditions. With short focal length refractors and reflectors, it’s a low power/wide field eyepiece for scanning the star clouds of Sagittarius and taking in the more compact open clusters and nebulas. It is also excellent for medium power magnification lunar and globular cluster observing with long focal length refractors, reflectors, or catadioptric scopes. It provides a 6.7mm exit pupil with an f/4.5mm Dobsonian reflector, for about the brightest images available from such a scope. Its reasonable weight will keep balancing problems at a minimum with big Dobs, as well. Its rubber-clad body gives a sure and comfortable grip in all temperature extremes. While its optical performance is quite good, this Vixen should be considered more for its virtue as an eyeglass-friendly eyepiece (particularly at a cost $60 to $400 less than that of similar focal length 2" eyepieces), rather than for any special optical excellence. |
