First, the Astro-Tech tray provides a convenient place to keep your eyepieces up out of the evening’s dews and damps and close at hand when using the Voyager altazimuth mount. The tray holds up to five 1.25” eyepieces and three 2” eyepieces conveniently located just a few inches away from the azimuth control knob so they are always close at hand.

The black-finished machined aluminum tray fits between the Voyager’s azimuth slow motion control/tripod assembly and the mount arm. The bolts that hold the arm to the azimuth slow motion control/tripod assembly pass through two holes in the eyepiece tray and hold it firmly in place between the assembled mount arm and tripod assembly. It can be used no matter in what orientation the mount arm is attached to the slow motion control assembly, but should always be installed on the opposite side of the mount from the telescope location.

Second, with several eyepieces in place, the Astro-Tech eyepiece tray provides additional tripod weight to balance very heavy telescope payloads. The Astro-Tech Voyager altazimuth mount will hold payloads weighing up to 20 pounds without balance problems. However, some exceptionally cautious individuals might prefer some additional weight on the opposite side of the mount from the telescope location to provide an extra measure of stability when a heavy scope is used. The Astro-Tech accessory tray provides that extra measure of stability. Its design always keeps its weight on the opposite side of the mount from the scope.
