| This lightweight Astrozap metal dew shield is made of rugged 20-gauge welded-seam aluminum. The interior is lined with contrast-enhancing black felt to absorb both stray light and moisture. Its exterior is painted metallic gray to match the finish of many current Celestron 8” Schmidt-Cassegrains, other than the NexStar 8 GPS. Because of the side mounting brackets that attach the NexStar 8 GPS optical tube to its fork mount, that particular 8” Celestron scope requires dew shield #1968GPS, which is notched to clear the brackets. The durable powder-coated finish is baked on for long life and chip resistance. Nylon thumbscrews in heavy-duty metal inserts lock onto the corrector plate rim to hold the dew shield onto the telescope optical tube and assure a secure fit. |
