| The Coronado CEMAX (Contrast Enhanced) Barlow is designed for use with CEMAX eyepieces to optimize hydrogen alpha solar viewing. This Barlow is NOT a hydrogen alpha solar filter and MUST be used in conjunction with a separate hydrogen alpha solar filter to avoid the possibility of instant and permanent eye damage! The CEMAX 2x 1.25” doublet Barlow is fully multicoated on all optical surfaces (including the cemented surfaces, not just the air to glass surfaces). Specially-formulated coating materials maximize the contrast in the H-alpha passband region. This improves the appearance of subtle solar details by eliminating residual internal reflections and scattered light near the solar disk. A thumbscrew holds eyepiece firmly in place. Plastic dust caps are provided for both ends of the Barlow. Its length of only 3” allows it to be used in SolarMax blocking filter/diagonals, as well as the Coronado Personal Solar Telescope. User comments about the CEMAX eyepieces and Barlow have been extremely favorable. One user commented, "I have to add my cudos for the new Cemax eyepieces. My set arrived last week, and I couldn't be more pleased. The first thing I noticed was the beautiful machining and attention to mechanical detail. The tolerances on the Barlow, in particular, are very impressive. The eyepieces actually make a whooshing sound when you insert them in to the Barlow. The lenses and coatings of all three eyepieces and the Barlow appear flawless. Optically the Cemax's perform every bit as good as they look. Contrast is excellent, and that warm red glow from scatter in my other eyepieces is gone, allowing me to see prominence detail that is invisible with other eyepieces.” |
