| The TeleVue Gibraltar 5 modified Tele-Pod head is designed as a replacement for the original Gibraltar head if you already own a standard Gibraltar mount for scopes 4” in aperture and under and want to move up to a 5” TeleVue NP-127 refractor.
This modified head is 1” wider than a standard Tele-Pod head to hold the larger diameter NP-127 body. In addition, it has larger bearings to better support the weight of the heavier NP-127. The cradle has holes specifically sized and spaced to accept the NP-127 base plate, in addition to holes that are usable with smaller TeleVue scopes.
There are friction locks in altitude and azimuth allow you to adjust the mount drag for smoothest operation and for balancing your scope with differing accessory loads. The head is pre-drilled to accept optional TeleVue Sky Tour computer encoders.
Owners of Gibraltar mounts made before 2002 will also require an optional upgrade kit to mount this larger head on their tripod. Contact us for information if you have a pre-2002 Gibraltar mount. |
