| This standard field tripod, as supplied with 8” and 10” LX90 and LX200GPS telescopes, has an aluminum head casting and 2” diameter chromed steel adjustable height legs. The legs end in heavy duty removable rubber tips to damp vibrations. Two large hand-tighten knobs per leg let you level the tripod on uneven ground and adjust the tripod height from 30” to 44”. The legs have a center brace for rigidity. Three 1.25” diameter holes in the leg brace can hold eyepieces while you observe. A single threaded rod that extends up through the center of the head casting threads into the base of an altazimuth mount Meade scope to hold it firmly on the tripod. The rod simultaneously tightens the leg brace in place to lock the legs rigidly in the most stable position. A large hand-tighten knob lets you tighten the threaded rod with no tools required. When using an equatorial wedge for astrophotography, three top-mounted hex head bolts are threaded down thorough the wedge and into the head casting of the tripod, in addition to the threaded rod, for extra strength and vibration damping. This adjustable-height tripod is available as a replacement for a damaged tripod and as an upgrade to a Meade LX10 fixed height tripod. |
