| This Meade 1.25” visual back/eyepiece holder was supplied with every Meade Schmidt-Cassegrain and Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope 7” through 10” in aperture prior to the LX200GPS series. It is supplied with the current Meade LX90 scopes, but is optional with the LX200 GPS and LX200-ACF series. It is available here as a replacement, should the original become damaged or lost, and for eyepiece projection photography with older 12” and 16” Meade LX200 Schmidt-Cassegrains and all recent LX200 GPS and current LX200-ACF scopes. A single large and easy to grip thumbscrew holds the star diagonal or eyepiece in place. Older 12” and 16” Meade LX200 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes were supplied with a 2” star diagonal (with a 1.25” eyepiece adapter) that threaded directly onto the rear cell of the telescopes, rather than a 1.25” eyepiece holder and separate 1.25” star diagonal. Recent LX200 GPS and current LX200-ACF scopes come with an electric focuser that has adapters that emulate a 2” SCT rear thread, a 2” focuser drawtube, and a 1.25” focuser drawtube. These scopes do not include a 1.25” visual back/eyepiece holder, despite the specifications listed in many catalogs. Eyepiece projection (close-up lunar and planetary) photography with these scopes therefore requires the purchase of this eyepiece holder in addition to a tele-extender and T-ring. |
