| The Coronado MALTA (Manual Altitude-Azimuth) mount is a light weight but well-built and stable black- and gold-anodized aluminum tabletop mount for use with either the PST or the PST CaK solar telescope. The telescope connects to a movable horizontal platform attached to the mount’s vertical arm. There is a tension knob on the mount head. Loosening it will let you move the PST left and right along the Azimuth or horizontal axis. Retightening the tension knob will hold the PST in place. A separate silver tension knob on the mount’s vertical arm lets you adjust the Altitude or vertical axis of the platform holding the PST and will hold the scope in place when tightened down. By removing some pre-cut portions of the PST’s custom foam packaging, the disassembled MALTA mount will fit in the same case as the PST scope to provide an all-in-one package for easy transportation and set up. The rubber-tipped legs of the mount thread into the swivel body. With PST is attached to the MALTA, you need only unthread the legs from the mount to store the PST in its case. The MALTA mount head can remain attached to the scope. The mount’s three legs store separately in the case. |
