| This black anodized machined aluminum D-series dovetail plate fits the tube rings of Astro-Physics 6” and 7” refractors, such as the 152 EDF Starfire. It has flat adapter blocks with hole patterns that match the hole patterns in the flat bosses on both the top and bottom of the Astro-Physics tube rings. The adapter blocks bolt to the tube rings and the dovetail plate in turn bolts to the adapter blocks. The plate has a dovetail on one side that measures 74mm wide. This allows the plate to slip easily into the 75mm wide dovetail slot of a Losmandy D-series equatorial mount saddle plate. This lets you use the dovetail plate to mount the telescope optical tube on a Losmandy G-11 or HGM Titan mount, or on a Celestron CI-700 and CGE equatorial mount. Since the plate will mount on either side of the tube rings, you can also install a dovetail or second dovetail on the top of the optical tube for mounting Losmandy D-series accessories – piggybacks, photoguide rings, etc. The dovetail plate measures 0.6” thick x 4” wide x 17.25” in length, with 16.0/16.50” hole spacing. It weighs 2.5 lbs. The height from the top of the optical tube to the top of the dovetail plate is 1.00”. The corners of the dovetail are beveled with a radius curvature, rather than having a sharp 90° corner. This helps prevent the dovetail from hanging up in the mount’s saddle plate if the dovetail is inserted at a slight angle when setting up your scope. Most of the side of the plate opposite the dovetail has been hollowed out to lighten the dovetail without compromising its strength, as shown in the feature image. |
