This lightweight Astrozap light shroud fits the Sky-Watcher 8” collapsible truss-tube Dobsonian reflector only. It improves your scope’s image contrast, protects the mirror from dropped eyepieces, and retards the formation of dew. The Astrozap light shroud is made of durable and breathable black cloth, with double-stitched seams for durability. A sewn slot in the shroud lets you access the navigation handle on the scope’s diagonal mirror cage, as shown in one of the feature images below.

Quick-release drawstrings with push-to-open clasps at each end of the light shroud let you snug up the ends of the light shroud over the no-tools knobs. This holds the light shroud in place on the scope, making it easy to install on your assembled scope, and equally easy to remove when you’re done observing.

But you don’t have to remove the Astrozap shroud at the end of the evening. The Astrozap light shroud can be left on your scope when you collapse the scope for transport. The other feature images below shows you how the Sky-Watcher Dob can be collapsed without removing the light shroud.

The three pole collapsible truss-tube design of the Sky-Watcher truss-tube Dobs (compared to the eight-tube design of other Dobs) means that unless special measures are taken, an ordinary plain cloth light shroud will sag into your scope’s light path and effectively reduce your aperture asymmetrically. This Astrozap light shroud is not an ordinary plain cloth shroud.

The Astrozap shroud has two stiffening hoops (of the same flexible ABS plastic used in their roll-up dew shields) that help the light shroud keep its tubular shape. These 2” wide stiffening hoops are sewn into cloth pockets five inches below each end of the light shroud and effectively keep the light shroud cloth from sagging into the telescope light path. The stiffening hoops are designed to rest on the trusses just below the no-tool knobs that hold the trusses to the secondary cage and mirror box. Blocking the light path with a sagging light shroud becomes a non-issue with an Astrozap.
