| This focal reducer is designed for 35mm film photography and large chip 35mm format CCD astrophotography with the new Takahashi FSQ-106ED refractor. It threads into the adapter ring on the FSQ-106ED focuser drawtube. The back end of the reducer has threads that duplicate the focuser drawtube threads for attaching accessories. The fully multicoated four-element optics of the reducer cut the 530mm focal length and f/5 focal ratio of the FSQ-106ED to a 385mm f/3.6. It produces a 44mm diameter flat field image circle measuring 6.5° across. This is large enough to cover the 44mm diagonal of a 35mm film negative or a 35mm-size CCD chip to yield fully unvignetted photographic images with pinpoint stars to the very edges of the frame. The finely machined black-finished metal cell of the reducer is supplied with thread-on/thread-in metal covers to protect its attachment threads. |
