| This variable tele-extender is for use with all 7" and larger Meade Schmidt-Cassegrain and Maksutov-Cassegrain telescopes and with 5” and larger Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes. Meade scopes supplied with a 2" star diagonal as standard equipment (12" and 16" LX200s and older LX6 and Premier models) also require Meade 1.25" eyepiece holder #9135 to use this tele-extender. Meade LX200GPS scopes supplied with an electric micro-focuser will also need a #9135 eyepiece holder. The tele-extender can also be used with Meade 4" to 7" APO refractors by adding Universal Thread Adapter #UTA, extension tube #13APO (see under camera adapters), and a #9135 1.25" eyepiece holder. The tele-extender has two nested tubes that telescope in and out of each other. This varies the adapter’s physical length, which changes the image size over a limited range without having to change the eyepiece. The telescoping tubes are held firmly at the desired length by thumbscrews. The tele-extender has internal antireflection threading for high contrast, and needs an optional T-ring. The calculator to the right gives the photographic values based on the tele-extender being used when closed to its shortest length. When the tele-extender is fully extended, the photographic values all will be approximately 35% higher than the results given by the calculator. Intermediate tube extensions will give photographic values between these two extremes. |
