| This off-axis filter fits all versions of the 8” Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes from Celestron (C8, C8+, Celestar 8, NexStar 8, NexStar 8i, CPC800, CGE-800. etc.) and Meade (2080, LX5, LX6, Premier, LX10, LX50, LXD-55, LXD-75, LX200, LX200 GPS, etc.), plus all versions of the Meade 7” Maksutov-Cassegrain (LX-50, LX200, etc.). It has a 76mm/3” clear aperture Type 2+ glass filter element. The filter is mounted on a white fiberboard insert in an aluminum cell with a 233mm/9-3/16” internal diameter. This allows it to fit scopes with a maximum diameter of 228.6mm (9”), using three to four tabs of the supplied self-adhesive thick felt on the inner rim of the cell to provide a snug and rattle-free fit. The filter comes with two long strips of felt for mounting, each 3/4” wide. One strip measures 1.1mm thick, while the second is 2.2mm thick. You can custom-fit the filter to other telescope tubes down to a 224mm o.d. by using two layers of the 2.2mm thick self-adhesive felt on each of the tabs. Always remember to install the solar filter before pointing your telescope at the Sun to avoid instant and irreversible damage to your eyesight. |
