The Orion DeepMap 600 is the first-ever star large scale chart that folds up like a road map to an easily-stored 4.75” x 10.5” size. DeepMap 600 shows the positions of the 600 finest celestial objects visible from the Northern Hemisphere. All are plotted on a giant 33” x 21” full-color star chart by world-renowned star-mapper Wil Tirion. The chart is made of waterproof no-rip plastic so it will give you years of use.

DeepMap 600 is designed for easy location of hundreds of deep-sky objects with telescopes and binoculars. Color-coded symbols identify more than 500 galaxies, nebulas, and star clusters – including all 109 Messier objects – as well as some 100 of the most interesting double and variable stars. No other single sheet star chart includes so many objects!

The large rectangular map on the front of DeepMap 600 covers the sky from declination +70° to -60° at a scale of 1.25” per hour of right ascension and 10 degrees of declination. On the back side is a map of the northern circumpolar region at the same scale. There are three lists of essential data for each of the 600 plotted objects on the back side of the map. One is for non-stellar deep sky objects such as nebulas, galaxies, and star clusters. It includes each object’s name, type, coordinates, constellation, apparent magnitude, angular size, and even a brief visual description. A separate list covers the best variable stars. This list includes information on each star’s name, type, coordinates, period, magnitude range, and again a brief visual description. A third list covers double and multiple stars. It gives information on the pair’s name, coordinates, separation, magnitudes, and a brief visual description of the colors of the stars. There are also sections of helpful text offering tips on using DeepMap 600, general observing hints, and more.

What makes DeepMap 600 really indispensable is that it folds up “accordion style” to a thin, pocket-size 4.5” x 10.5” – just like a road map! You’ll no longer have to fumble with bulky books, star atlases, and observing references to find interesting objects to view. The quick-reference DeepMap 600 is all you need at the telescope.
