| This 25’ RS-232 serial cable allows you to connect your PC or laptop computer to the Meade LX200, LX200GPS, LX200R, a Magellan computer for a Starfinder or LX10, or LXD650/750 mounts equipped with a #1697 computer drive. It is equivalent to the Meade #507 cable (Meade part #07047), except that it is a more convenient 25' in length, rather than the 9'6" of the Meade version. It is not for telescopes equipped with an Autostar #494, #495, or #497 computer (e.g., DS, ETX, and LXD-55/75 scopes). These require a Meade #505 cable (our part #A505). The cable allows point and click remote operation of the telescope using Meade’s Epoch 2000 software, TheSky from Software Bisque, Desktop Universe, Starry Night, and all other software programs that include the LX200 control protocols. The cable has a 9-pin DB9 serial connector at one end that attaches to your computer and a 4-pin RJ-11 telephone-type connector on the other that plugs into your scope. If your computer has a USB port, rather than a DB9 connection, you can use the #AUSB bridge cable to convert the serial connection to USB. If your computer has a 25-pin DB25 serial port, rather than a DB9, your local computer store can provide an inexpensive DB9 to DB25 adapter that will let you use this cable. |
