| This handsome high power 10x25mm Zeiss Victory H-body roof prism “mini” has the latest Zeiss T* (T Star) multicoatings and P* (P Star) phase-correcting prism coatings. These coatings provide high brilliance, razor-sharp definition, and outstanding color fidelity for binoculars in this aperture and magnification range. The phase coatings provide an improvement in contrast and color saturation over lesser binoculars that is particularly visible in early morning or twilight when looking at a backlit or silhouetted subject. The field of view is very flat, with sharp images from edge to edge. Astigmatism is essentially non-existent and the color fidelity and contrast are excellent. The Victory will surprise you with just how sharp and bright an image you can get from a mini binocular in this size range. The 10 x 25 Victory has an internal center focus. It is O-ring sealed and dry nitrogen-filled to be guaranteed waterproof and internally fogproof in all temperature and weather conditions. Its very lightweight glass fiber reinforced body is lightly armored in a matte black rubber that provides a secure and comfortable hold in all climates. This Zeiss Victory compact has popup rubber-rimmed eyecups and a respectable 13mm of eye relief that provides only mildly vignetted views for those who must wear eyeglasses when observing. The eye relief is exactly the 13mm specified by Zeiss, a rarity among binoculars (as most binoculars generally have several millimeters less eye relief than specified). The off-center asymmetrical hinge design (the hinge is located at the left side of the binocular body, rather than in the center) allows for more comfortable focusing, as the forefinger can lay flat in use. It does not have to remain arched to focus as it does with the narrow spacing of most center-folding compact binoculars. The ribbed focus knob is located at the rear of the binocular hinge. About one and a third turns of the knob moves the Victory from a reasonable 13’ close focus out to the horizon and beyond. The smooth diopter correction knob for the right eyepiece is located at the front of the hinge, where its position and surface texture will keep you from mistaking it for the focus knob. In addition, the diopter knob is quite stiff in its operation, which helps keep it from being knocked out of adjustment accidentally when you are using the binocular. The 10x25 Victory comes with a detachable narrow woven neck strap that is surprisingly comfortable, given the light weight of the Victory. The Velcro-closure soft Cordura-type nylon case has a belt loop for convenient no-hands varying. This Zeiss Victory is a high power ultra-compact all-weather binocular that is useful as a second bino for casual birding, observing nature, traveling and hiking, canoeing, mountain biking and mountaineering. It also works well for visits to the theater and open-air events, providing a very close-up view of the stage.
