| The Leica Stabilite tripod adapter will let you tripod mount a roof prism binocular that does not have a 1/4”-20 thread tripod adapter hole in its hinge for tripod mounting. It consists of an injection-molded saddle with a metal insert that is threaded to fit onto the 1/4”-20 thread attachment bolt in a camera tripod’s pan head. The binocular is placed in the saddle. A V-shaped groove with non-marring padded side pieces holds the binocular’s right optical tube and keeps the binocular from sliding about in the holder. The left optical tube fits into a wider V-shaped area that allows you to open the binocular to accommodate your interpupillary spacing. A soft foam pad in the base of the wider V cushions the left optical tube. A soft rubber strap stretches from the left of the adapter over the top of the binocular and latches onto a hook on the right of the adapter to hold the binocular firmly in place. The strap is stretchy enough to be easily removed, but has enough grip to hold the binocular without sliding. The strap can be positioned to give free access to the binocular focus wheel. When not in use, the rubber strap wraps around the adapter body. A molded peg on the end of the strap fits into a keyhole slot in the underside of the adapter to keep the strap from flapping about. The adapter weighs 4 oz. and is designed to hold roof prism binoculars only, from 32mm to 50mm in aperture. |
