| This light-weight pivoting first surface mirror allows a Starbeam to be used as a straight-through finder, a right angle finder for observing at the zenith, or at any angle in between. Two set screws attach the metal frame of the flip mirror to the housing that holds the illuminator of older Starbeam finders, with no drilling or modification needed to the finder. The mirror flips down to lie parallel to the finder base for straight-through use, with the mirror face down to protect it from accidents, then flips up to allow viewing the red dot of the Starbeam from a position at a right or oblique angle to the optical tube. The flip mirror ends the contortions required to use a straight-through finder near the zenith and makes the Starbeam truly a universal finder.
