This electronic module installs in an existing Telrad finder. It converts the variable brightness (but either constantly on or turned completely off) red reticle to a variable brightness/variable pulse rate pulsing reticle.

Many observers feel that a constantly glowing reticle tires the eye and makes it more difficult to locate faint objects. They feel that pulsing the reticle on and off lets you see faint objects more easily. This Pulsar module allows the Telrad reticle to glow in just such a pulsing mode.

Installation requires drilling two holes in the plastic body of the Telrad for installing the variable rate control. This is a task easily accomplished in a few moments with a power or hand drill and common 5/16" and 5/64" drill bit. Two wires in the existing electronics are cut so the existing battery holder in the Telrad can be removed. The insulation is stripped back on the remaining wires that went to the original battery holder so that the Pulsar module and new battery pack shown above left can be wired into the circuit using the supplied wire nuts shown (no soldering required). Installation takes no more than 10-15 minutes and is very straightforward.

Once installed, the new Pulsar module control allows you to vary the rate at which the reticle blinks on and off, while the existing Telrad control still allows you to vary the brightness of the pattern. An ancillary benefit of the pulsing action is longer Telrad battery life.
