| This JMI hard case is designed specifically for hold only the disassembled tripod of the Meade RCX400 scopes. The exterior includes four lockable latches for the hinged cover and three steel-reinforced handles. The 3" x 30" cover hinge is made of heavy-duty steel for a lifetime of use. The case can be carried or, for easier transport, pulled using the two 10" pneumatic wheels attached to one end of the case. Installation of the wheels is easy and requires two only 7/16" wrenches (or two crescent wrenches). The body of the case is molded to conform to the shape of the tripod head and its three disassembled legs. The tripod components are simply laid into the snug-fitting molded compartments. There are two plastic straps with thumbscrews to hold the legs in their compartments. When the cover is closed and latched it holds the tripod parts firmly in place with no shifting. The outside dimensions of the case are 46.75" x 24.5" x 15.5" (subject to slight changes). Its empty weight is approximately 33.4 lbs. The shipping weight is approximately 41.2 lbs. However, the shipping carton is large enough to be considered oversize by both FedEx and UPS, and the dimensional freight charges for it (based on the space it takes up in the truck or plane, rather than the actual weight) are the same as if the carton weighed 70 lbs. Keep this excess freight charge in mind if is air shipment is desired.
