These large 10" all-terrain pneumatic wheels make it easy to move your JMI telescope carrying case over rough and uneven ground. They are standard equipment on the current 12" and 14" Meade cases from JMI, but can also be added to the following JMI 8" through 10" cases:
Celestron NexStar 8 single fork arm, JMI #CASENEX8S, our #208NJ,
Celestron NexStar 8GPS dual fork arm, JMI #CASENEX8D, our #208G,
Celestron NexStar 11GPS, JMI #CASENEX11, our #2011G,
Meade 8" LX90/LX200/LX50, JMI #CASELX8, our #269J,
Meade 8" LX100/LX200/LX50, JMI #CASELX208, discontinued, our #268J,
Meade 10" LX100/LX200/LX50, JMI #CASELX210G, our #260J,
Meade 12" LX200, JMI #CASELX212G, discontinued old-style with small wheels, our older #272J, and
Meade 8" and 10" LXD-55 Schmidt-Newtonian OTA, JMI #CASE55OTA, our #255OTA.

This upgrade can be purchased when you buy any of the above current cases or can be added at a later date. If you are buying the upgrade to install on a case you already own, you will have to drill four holes in the injection-molded case to attach the wheel bracket. This is easily done, using either an electric drill or a hand drill. If you order the wheels with your case, the proper holes will be drilled in the case at the factory and the case drop-shipped to you. The wheels and bracket will be packed separately. You will still have to install the wheels and bracket on the case, but this is easily done using two 7/16" wrenches (or two crescent wrenches).

The wheels can be removed from the bracket quickly and easily at any time by pulling two spring clip pins. This helps reduce the overall size of the case for putting it in a small space, such as a car trunk. The whole assembly (wheels and bracket) can also be removed in order to use the smaller standard equipment wheels built into the 8" through 11" telescope cases.

When installed, the wheels add 2" of depth to the case, measuring from the bottom of the case (not including the small standard wheels). They add 10.5" to 11.5" of length, measuring from the end of the case where the bracket is attached. If the wheels are removed from the bracket, leaving the bracket on the case, the above increase in length is reduced by approximately 4.5". Due to the contoured shape of the carrying cases, actual changes in the overall length of the case may be less than specified above and will depend on the model of the case.

Some older JMI cases, for the Celestron NexStar 11 and Meade LX200 10" telescopes, used metal brackets for mounting their integral small wheels. A special adapter is available from JMI at no charge to let you use the 10" wheel upgrade on these older cases. Contact JMI for details if you have any questions about whether your older case needs this adapter.
