This fully antireflection-coated achromatic doublet Barlow increases the magnification 2x when used used in the star diagonal of a catadioptric (Schmidt-Cassegrain or Maksutov-Cassegrain) or refractor or in a reflector focuser. Due to the length of the barrel, care should be taken to be sure that the Barlow does not bottom out on the mirror face if used in a 2" diagonal with a 1.25" adapter. The inside of the barrel is anti-reflection threaded to improve contrast. There's a groove machined into the chrome barrel that acts as a safety stop to keep the Barlow from falling out of the focuser if the focuser thumbscrew accidentally loosens in use. The Barlow increases the magnification 2.6x when used in front of a catadioptric or refractor's star diagonal.
