| The normal image in the eyepiece of a Questar 3.5" astronomical telescope or spotting scope is an upright but mirror image (reversed right-for-left). A mirror image is of little consequence in astronomical and terrestrial viewing of relatively stationary subjects (a deer is still a deer whether he’s facing left or right). However, a mirror image can be disconcerting if you are trying to read printing (the name or home port on a distant boat, for example), or if you are trying to follow quickly or erratically moving wildlife.
This premium 45° viewing angle image erecting diagonal fits into the back of a Questar scope (using an optional #19431-03 slip-fit adapter) to provide upright and correctly left-to-right oriented images with any 1.25" eyepiece. In addition to correctly-oriented images, it provides what many observers feel is a more comfortable 45° terrestrial viewing angle. It increases the magnification by approximately 8%.
The diagonal is exceptionally well made. Its precision image-erecting Amici (or roof) prism is made of costly BaK-4 glass and is fully multicoated for high light transmission. A non-marring brass compression ring with a thumbscrew holds any brand of 1.25" eyepieces firmly in place, including Questar’s thread-in Brandon eyepieces.
Shipping is free on this Questar image erector if it is purchased with a Questar scope that is being drop-shipped to you from the Questar factory.
