| This machined aluminum piggyback bracket allows a 35mm camera to be installed on the mounting ring of any TeleVue refractor for wide-field deep space photography. The scope must be installed on a motorized equatorial mount and aligned on the north celestial pole for proper photographic operation. The U-shaped base of the Piggy-Cam fits into one of the dovetail grooves machined into TeleVue refractor mounting rings only. A supplied button head screw holds the Piggy-Cam securely in the mounting ring by threading through the hole visible in the U-shaped base of the Piggy-Cam and into a matching hole in the mounting ring’s dovetail groove. The camera platform has a standard 1/4"-20 thread bolt in a slot. A hand-tighten knob holds the camera in place. The slot for the 1/4"-20 thread bolt allows the camera to be positioned left or right of center to avoid interference with any finderscope that might be installed in the mounting ring’s second dovetail slot. The camera can be pivoted from side to side to keep the telescope barrel out of the field of view of a wide-angle camera lens, but cannot tilt up and down. The camera platform can be rotated though a 90-degree arc to allow a vertical or horizontal picture composition (or any angle in between). Two hand-tighten knobs hold the camera platform at the desired angle.
