| This Kendrick dew heater for red dot finders was named a Sky & Telescope Hot Product for 2010. The custom-molded heater frame presses into place around the viewing window of most red dot finders, such as the Astro-Tech ATF, and is held in place by friction. It includes a 48" power cable with male RCA plugs at each end for connection to your heater control unit. The gentle heat from the frame surrounding the finder’s viewing window will keep the finder dew free all night long.
Field testing has proven this heater to be very effective at dew removal and dew prevention. Typically a low to medium controller setting will keep this finder free of moisture under most observing conditions. It draws very little current (maximum draw is 0.2 amp) and at a typical 40% controller setting, for example, this heater will draw only .08 amp (less than a 10th of an amp!) At temperatures below freezing, however, it may be necessary to run the heater at higher settings.
