This felt-lined satin black powder-coated matte-finish tube ring is designed to hold the TeleVue TV-102 optical tube. The ring is not hinged to swing open, but is in two sections that bolt together around the telescope tube. The lack of a hinge and flip-up locking knob on opposite sides of the ring keep the ring diameter narrow enough to fit within the yoke of a TeleVue Tele-Pod altazimuth mount. A conventional hinged tube ring would be too wide to fit within the yoke. A bat-wing handle on one of the bolts allows the tube ring to be loosened slightly. This lets you move the telescope tube back and forth in the ring to balance the weight of different visual and photographic accessories.

The 4" i. d. tube ring has three 1/4"-20 thread holes in a flat boss on the bottom of the ring. These allow the tube ring to be connected to a Tele-Pod mount or to any equatorial or altazimuth mount using a standard 1/4"-20 mounting bolt.

Two dovetail grooves are machined into the top of the ring. These are for the installation of TeleVue accessories such as the Starbeam, Qwik-Point, and Sol-Searcher finders.
