| You can make focusing a TeleVue refractor smoother, more accurate, and vibration-free for both visual and CCD imaging. Simply add this DC-powered electric Focusmate Driver to your refractor’s Focusmate manual fine focusing system.
The left-hand drive Focusmate Driver is a variable speed motor drive unit that works on any 4" or 5" TeleVue refractor that is equipped with an optional manual Focusmate that you have attached to its left side. The Focusmate Driver’s adjustable speed electric motor drive installs easily onto the optional Focusmate 6:1 manual fine focus unit. The variable speed motor has a unique quick disconnect for switching (without tools) between electric and manual operation.
A gentle tap on the Focusmate Driver’s motor direction buttons can produce focusing steps as small as about 0.0005" (5/10,000"). For major focus changes, holding down either button will drive the Focusmate continuously in the desired direction until you release the button. If the optional Digital Micrometer Kit (#DMK0002) is also installed, a digital readout of the focuser position is possible to an unprecedented .0001" (1/10,000").
All TeleVue refractors having focusing knobs with 5 holes will accept the optional Focusmate 6:1 manual fine focus and this Focusmate Driver. All current production TeleVue scopes through the NP-127 now accept the Digital Micrometer Kit, as well.
In addition, this left-hand drive Focusmate Driver is also used on the TV-76 and TV-85 when those scopes have a Focusmate mounted on the right-side as they must have when using them on a TeleVue alt-azimuth mount such as the Tele-Pod or Panoramic mount. On the TV-76 and TV-85 this maintains full forward telescope positioning in the ring mount for proper balancing (using the TeleVue #PBA balance aid is recommended).
The left-hand Focusmate Driver can also be used with the TV-60is, although clearance issues require that this left-hand version be used even though the factory-installed Focusmate is on the right side of that particular scope.
