This hard plastic dewcap threads into the objective lens cell of the Meade ETX-125 Maksutov-Cassegrain astronomical telescope and spotting scope only. The #678 Dew Shield slows the formation of dew on the lens surface in climates prone to high nighttime moisture in the air. It improves astronomical visual and photographic contrast from city observing sites by blocking neighboring lights. It also gives a considerable improvement in contrast during daytime terrestrial observing and is highly recommended for daytime photography. The #678 is tapered slightly outwards from a 6" diameter to 6.5" to reduce the possibility of vignetting. 5.75" overall length. The #678 can be unthreaded from the scope front cell and put on the optical tube backwards, slipping over the telescope barrel for storage when the scope is in its optional hard case.
