| While most Newtonian reflectors are rarely bothered by dew, the front corrector plate of the Meade LXD-75 8" Schmidt-Newtonian can easily collect dew as quickly as a Schmidt-Cassegrain or any other catadioptric telescope. If dew is a problem for you, blurring your view or ruining your photos, then this Astrozap dew shield could be the answer. This Astrozap dew shield is made of lightweight and durable welded-seam aluminum. The interior is felt-lined to help absorb moisture. The exterior is painted a light gray to match the finish of your LXD-75 Schmidt-Newtonian. Heavy duty threaded inserts and nylon thumbscrews mount the dew shield on the die-cast rim that holds the corrector plate. The thumbscrews engage the groove around the outside of the rim, assuring a secure no-tool fit. In addition to retarding the formation of dew on your optics, thereby extending your undisturbed observing time, the Astrozap dew shield improves your viewing by preventing extraneous light from reaching the Schmidt-Newtonian optics to visibly increase the image contrast.
