| This JMI Motofocus is for use with most Takahashi refractors using the standard Takahashi 2.7" focuser. It cannot be used with telescopes using Takahashi’s giant 4" focuser. A list of the scopes it can be used with (as well as those it cannot be used with) is at the bottom of this descriptive material. The focuser consists of a variable speed push-on DC motor, a hand control, and all necessary mounting hardware. One knob of the telescope focuser is removed and the push-on motor and its attached mounting bracket are slipped over the exposed focuser shaft. A rubber O-ring inside the motor grips the focuser shaft and racks the focuser in and out as the focuser’s hand control buttons are pushed. The O-ring acts as a slip clutch to prevent damage if the normal telescope focuser travel is exceeded. The existing tension screws on the focuser’s rack and pinion housing are used to hold the motor bracket in place. The motor bracket has mounting slots that allow the focus motor to be precisely aligned with the focuser shaft for smoothest operation. The motor can be left in place when the scope is not in use. The motor has electromagnetic braking for very precise focus control. The coiled cord from the motor plugs into the supplied hand control box. The control box contains a 9-volt battery that will power the focuser for 6 to 8 months of normal use, pushbuttons to control the direction of focuser travel, and a variable rate control that adjusts focusing speed. The focuser can be used with the following Takahashi telescopes: Epsilon-130 / Epsilon-200 / FC-60 / FC-65 / FC-76 / FC-100 / FC-100N / FC-125 / FCT-65 / FCT-76 / FCT-125 / FS-60 / FS-78 / FS-102 / FS-128 / MT-130 / MT-160 / MT-200 / Sky-90. The focuser cannot be used with the following Takahashi telescopes: CN-212, FS-128G, TOA-130F, FCT-150, TOA-150, FS-152, Mewlon, MT-250, MT-300 and TSC. For certain of these models, use focuser #2420.
