| This is the adjustable-height heavy duty tripod used with Celestron Advanced Series go-to scopes up to 11" in aperture. The tripod has 2" diameter steel legs with a die-cast metal center leg brace for rigidity. The center leg brace provides excellent stability and damping characteristics. In addition, the center leg brace is drilled to form a convenient accessory tray that holds up to five 1.25" and two 2" eyepiece to keep them up out of the dew-soaked grass.
The tripod is designed for use with German equatorial mount heads only. The flat circular top of the tripod that the legs are attached to has a removable post that combines with the azimuth adjusters on most German mounts to provide fast and easy azimuth alignment on the celestial pole.
A single 3/8" rod extends up through the center of the circular tripod top to thread into the base of your German mount head to hold it in place. A hand-tighten knob on the rod makes assembling the mount head to the tripod a no-tool operation. A second hand-tighten knob at the bottom of the threaded rod locks the center leg brace rigidly in place.
