This encoder/hardware set for the Losmandy GM-8 and G-11 equatorial mounts consists of two sets of 2:1 ratio machined aluminum gears, two 2048 line optical encoders with RJ11 connectors and machined aluminum housings for protection, and right ascension and declination cables.

The set does not come with a computer module, but will connect directly to Lumicon Sky Vector and JMI NGC computers to give you a constant digital readout of where your scope is pointed in right ascension and declination, as well as act as an aiming computer to help you find your way around the night sky.

The gears lock onto the r.a. and dec shafts with no radial movement possible. This system gives full use of the r. a. and dec clutches, letting you move the scope at will, without any worry about your computer losing its lock on the sky. You’ll always have an accurate readout of where your scope is pointed.

An optional set of Delrin gear covers (#DGC) will keep your encoders from getting caught in the gears and damaged. They will also protect the encoder bearings from loose dirt and debris in dusty environments or during transport.
