The dovetail has a series of 11 mounting holes and a 0.25" wide x 5.75" long slot for installing virtually any configuration of mounting rings. The holes and slot are countersunk on the underside of the dovetail. This assures that the bolts holding the mounting rings will not protrude and keep the dovetail plate from sliding back and forth in the mount saddle for balancing. Thread-in bolts are provided to act as stops to keep the dovetail and optical tube from sliding out of the mount saddle should the mount’s locking knob loosen accidentally. As a thoughtful touch, the corners of the 75mm dovetail are rounded to keep them from digging into the saddle and hanging up if the dovetail is not perfectly straight when it is installed on the mount. The 0.5" thick dovetail is precision-machined of aluminum stock. It measures 14" long x 1.75" wide overall and is anodized black for good looks and durability. It weighs 19 ounces.
