| NOTE: Due to the larger size of the motors used with the Losmandy Gemini go-to systems, this case will not hold a Gemini-equipped go-to mount head. This premium heavy-duty case is the right size to hold the Losmandy GM-8 or G-11 equatorial mount head. It is injection-molded of high impact structural copolymer that makes it extremely strong and durable. It is unbreakable, dustproof, chemical resistant, and corrosion proof. A continuous neoprene O-ring around the lid and six ABS latches assure a watertight seal. The case includes an air pressure relief valve for quick equalization after changes in atmospheric pressure (a trip to a mountaintop observatory, for example). It has a fold-down carrying handle and can be locked using an optional padlock. The case is made in the USA and is not a lightweight and inexpensively-made import. The multiple layers of very durable high-density foam filling the interior of the case are not precut to fit a generic mount, as the size and shape of the cutout will vary, depending on the mount model and your observing latitude. Instead, the center foam layer is die-cut in 1/2" cubes. After marking the outline of your mount head on the foam with an ink marker or chalk, the foam cubes within the outline are simply pulled out to custom fit the interior of the case to the shape of your particular mount head when it is set for your particular observing latitude. Should you need new foam inserts because you change mounts or move to a substantially different latitude, they are available directly from the case manufacturer. The outside dimensions of the case are 8.25" x 14.25" x 18.875" and it weighs 10 lbs.
