| This 12VDC-powered cooling fan snaps onto the back of all Meade Deep Sky Imager, Deep Sky Imager II, and Deep Sky Imager Pro II cameras. It is not compatible with the Deep Sky Imager III or Deep Sky Imager Pro III. Its 9-bladed fan turns at 3200 revolutions per minute to move 29 cubic feet of air over the camera’s passive cooling fins. This airflow lowers the camera’s operating temperature by up to 9° Fahrenheit. By providing enhanced cooling of the CCD chip in the camera, the 2.76" x 2.76" x 0.79" fan reduces the unavoidable electronic noise in longer-exposure images due to heat build-up in the camera’s electronic components. Images are cleaner, with darker and more even sky backgrounds. The lightweight (2.33 ounce) fan has soft rubber legs that slip over the corners of the DSI, DSI II, and DSI Pro II cameras only. The rubber legs both make for a quick and easy no-tools installation and act as shock absorbers to keep any possible vibration from the whisper-quiet fan from reaching the camera. A separate battery pack holding eight user-supplied AA batteries powers the fan, which can also be operated by the Meade #541 AC adapter.
