| The Celestron #44302-A Handheld Digital Microscope lets you view full-color images (snapshots or video) on your PC or laptop computer at variable magnifications of 10x to 40x power. You can also boost the magnification to a substantial 150x power (on a 19" computer monitor) by simply turning the focus knob. You can record what you see with the click of a button for snapshots or record video with the provided Windows XP and Vista software, or you can use your own photo/imaging software programs.
The Celestron Handheld Digital Microscope puts a digital camera and LED illuminator into a small, compact package that measures only 4.25" (108mm) long by 1.25" (32mm) in diameter and weighs just four ounces. A built-in six LED illuminator provides bright and sharp viewing and imaging. Focusing is done by rotating a ribbed wheel built into the side of the microscope. An adjustable height metal stand is provided to hold the microscope over your subject for hands-free operation.
The Celestron Handheld Digital Microscope can be used in virtually every area that a traditional microscope can be used, and in a lot of places you can’t take or fit a standard size microscope.

The digital camera in the Celestron Handheld Digital Microscope has a resolution of 2 megapixels using a 1600 x 1200 pixel CMOS chip. The magnifications available are a variable 10x to 40x (depending on the height of the microscope lens above the subject) and a fixed 150x (when shown on a 19" or larger monitor). You can choose from a video frame rate of 15 or 30 frames per second, or you can take single frame still images. A USB 2.0 cable connects the microscope to your PC or laptop. Power to the digital camera and the built-in white light six-LED illuminator is provided by your computer through the USB cable.
The Celestron Handheld Digital Microscope can be used over an operating and storage temperature range from 5 to 122 degrees F (-15 to 50 degrees C),
The digital camera works with a PC running Microsoft Windows XP or Vista. Windows 7 drivers are available as a free download from the Celestron website. You can also use it with Apple Mac version 10.4.9 and later operating systems. You will need to install the Digital Microscope Suite software (on Windows OS) to actually view and/or image. You can also use any other image/photo capture software that you may have on your Windows system if you desire.
To use the microscope with Mac operating systems you will need to have MAC version 10.4.9 or higher and image/photo capture software on your computer (such as iChat with Photo Booth, etc.). In all cases, you need to have a CD or DVD drive to install the software and an open USB port to plug in the camera.
