This 1.25" eyepiece uses seven optical elements for sharp, well-corrected performance across a very wide 82° field of view. At 15mm, its usable eye relief is quite long for a short focal length eyepiece, and its twist-up eyecup lets you match the eye relief to your eyesight and/or eyeglass use.

The 82° field of the Meade 8.8mm Ultra Wide is so wide that you can’t see the field stop without moving your head from side to side, so the eyepiece seems to disappear in use. It gives you the feeling of looking through a picture window into space, rather than through a constricted tube, as with a conventional narrow field eyepiece.

The Meade 8.8mm Ultra Wide eyepiece comes close to the optimum 1mm exit pupil that most closely matches the resolution of your eye to that of an f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. This makes it a good choice for critical observing with this type of scope.
