The 90 pound instrument payload capacity Meade LX800 StarLock German equatorial go-to mount is supplied with one 18 pound stainless steel counterweight as standard equipment. Combined with the 17.8 pound weight of the counterweight shaft, this single weight can typically balance a payload weighing up to approximately 25-30 pounds.

If your expected total payload is heavier than this, you can add one to three of these Meade extra 18 pound stainless steel counterweights to balance the heavier load. Each additional weight will increase the payload capacity by approximately 20-22 pounds, up to the Meade LX800 mount’s maximum instrument payload capacity of 90 pounds.
