| All telescope, camera, and eyepiece optics need a little TLC from time to time. Here are the essential tools you need for removing dirt and oily fingerprint residue from accidental careless handling of binocular lenses, telescope eyepieces, cameras, finder scopes, and other optical components. Cleaning ensures clear views and prevents mold from taking hold, which can ruin sensitive optical coatings. This kit will keep your optics in tip-top shape. This kit is not designed for cleaning reflector mirrors. This Orion Optics Cleaning Kit for small optics contains all these items:
.- A high volume blower bulb. This removes coarse dust and dirt particles. Unlike the small camera lens blower bulbs and ear syringes you’ll usually find recommended, this large bulb can deliver a potent blast of air to remove dirt. Unlike a can of compressed air, or simply pursing your lips and blowing on your lens, this blower brush doesn’t pose the danger of leaving a propellant residue on your optics.
.- A packet of seventy 40mm x 77mm lint-free lens tissue. Soft and lint-free, these small tissues are used to apply and remove cleaning fluid to eyepieces and lenses. They won’t scratch your optics. When you run out, simply get a new supply at a camera store.
.- A 45cc bottle of optics cleaning fluid. This safely removes grime and oily residues. When you run out (which will take a long time as it only requires a few drops at a time to clean your optics), you can replace it with a bottle of #ZLC lens cleaning fluid.
.- A lint-free polyester and nylon microfiber cleaning cloth. Great for quick removal or grease and fingerprint smudges from lenses, its microfibers pick up tons of dirt.
.- Five double-ended cotton swabs. They are ideal for cleaning small lenses and around lens and eyepiece edges. We don’t need to tell you that you can easily replace these at any drugstore when these are gone.
