One part is an 8’ cord with a 5.5mm female plug on one end and a fused (10 amp) male cigarette lighter plug on the other. The cigarette lighter plug has an on/off rocker switch built into it. The center-positive 5.5mm plug has a locking ring that holds it firmly in place on your camera. The locking ring differentiates this adapter cable from a similar (locking ring-free) cable with negative center pin (#DC5C) that is used with the discontinued SBIG STV, ST-5C, and ST-237. This 8’ cable can be used by itself to plug your camera into the cigarette lighter of your car. It will also plug into the 12VDC output of a typical rechargeable portable power pack, such as the #4512V and #4517V Power Tank models from Celestron.

The second part is an 18" cable with a female cigarette lighter plug adapter on one end and alligator-style rubber-insulated battery clips on the other. The battery clips are color-coded (red for positive, black for ground) to maintain the proper negative-center DC polarity when you power up your camera. When you need to operate your camera from a conventional automobile battery, simply use the alligator clips to connect one end of this portion of the adapter to your car battery terminals and insert the male cigarette lighter plug on the 8’ cord into the female receptacle on opposite end.
