The NPC filter is designed primarily to reduce the unfocused violet halo seen through common refractors around bright objects.

It utilizes Neodymium glass as the basic substrate. Neodymium is a rare-earth metal with unusual spectral properties when infused into glass. It absorbs parts of the yellow and green regions of the color spectrum, giving it a bluish cast.

It was discovered when combined with the MV1 filter, the resultant image becomes very neutral. The MV1, by itself imparts a slight greenish yellow cast. By coating the Neodymium glass with the MV1 formula, we get the best of both in one filter. The overall transmission will be about 78%.
