| This die-cast piggyback bracket allows your 35mm camera to be mounted on top of any Meade 10" Schmidt-Cassegrain for wide-field deep space photography. The slotted mounting holes in the base of the piggyback allow it to be installed in pre-drilled threaded holes at the 12 o'clock position on the rear cell of the scope. Two existing short screws capping these holes in the rear cell must be removed before the piggyback can be installed using the new longer #8-32 x 1/2" button-head screws and washers provided with the piggyback. One of the hex-head wrenches originally supplied as standard equipment with the telescope is needed to attach the piggyback to the scope. No hex-head wrench is supplied with the piggyback itself. The broad base of the piggyback is designed to fit the curvature of the 10" Meade scopes only and will not work properly on other models. The camera platform of the piggyback is 1-1/8" tall and there is a standard 1/4"-20 thread bolt with a hand-tighten knob in the platform to hold the camera in place. The camera can be pivoted from side to side to keep the telescope barrel out of the field of view of a wide-angle camera lens, but cannot tilt up and down. Because of carton limitations, the 1/4"-20 bolt and knob are installed upside down in the camera platform to conserve space when shipped. The bolt will have to be unscrewed from the platform, reversed, and reinstalled with the bolt at the top of the platform before a camera can be attached.
