This is an inexpensive, but effective, set of cleaning tools that you can use in the home or out in the field to keep your binocular and spotting scope optics in top condition. There are four components in the kit.

First is the “Static Wisk," an anti-static lens brush to whisk dust and loose debris from lens surfaces. The brush bristles are electrically conductive to prevent a dust-attracting static charge from building up on the surfaces being cleaned.

Second is the “SpeckGrabber," a special tool for removing dust specks that stubbornly cling to optics due to a static charge, despite your best efforts with the Static Wisk. The SpeckGrabber works on the delicate CCD chips in cameras, as well as on binocular and spotting scope lenses and eyepieces. The blue tip of the SpeckGrabber is simply touched to the offending speck and lifted. The dust speck will adhere to the tool and not to the optical surface.

Third is a one ounce spray bottle of “Kinetronics Precision Cleaning Solution." This reagent-grade multi-solvent liquid formulation is specifically designed to effectively clean all optical glass surfaces – including multicoated binocular and spotting scope lenses and eyepieces, camera lenses, AR and UV coated glass filters, and CCD chips. Lightly sprayed on dirty optics, it dissolves ionic and non-ionic residues such as fingerprints, smudges, grease marks, and eyelash oils without affecting lens coatings. It leaves no appreciable impurities that could add contamination. Once given a few moments to dissolve the deposits on the lens surface, the cleaning solution is removed using a soft, lint-free, absorbent cleaning cloth, such as the next item.

Fourth is the “Tiger Cloth." This soft microfiber cleaning cloth is electrically conductive to prevent static charges on the surfaces being cleaned. It is lint-free and absorbent to quickly remove fingerprints, smudges, grease marks, eyelash oils, and dust from lens surfaces. An instruction sheet completes the package, which comes in a hinged snap-tight plastic carrying case.

Good optics are expensive, but should give you a lifetime of good use if you take care of them. The Nikon Optics Maintenance Kit is an inexpensive way to assure you get that lifetime of clear views that you’ve paid for and expect.

Not part of this kit, but a useful option worth considering, is the Nikon Lens Pen, our part #NLP. This is an inexpensive, but effective, dry cleaning tool that you can take in the field for quick optical touchups on your optics when they don’t need a major cleaning.
