A review of the 7 x 36mm Swift Eaglet in Better View Desired Birding Optics Quarterly commented, “Eye relief is excellent . . . handling is also exceptional. The body is compact and fits comfortably in most hands . . . The view is also exceptionally easy and comfortable. There is no strain in looking through the glasses . . . Optically, the field is fairly flat, with good sharpness right out to the edges. Resolution and contrast are very good, but direct comparison with the best roofs and porros shows the Eaglet’s limitations. It is that matter of inner feather detail and the ability to maintain performance as distances approach the limits of what is reasonable. We are talking subtle differences here, the kind that are only evident in direct comparison. Certainly almost any birder would be delighted with the optical performance of the Eaglets . . . The real strength of the Eaglets however, is not any one feature, but the sum of their many charms . . . The Eaglets are the closest thing you are likely to find to a reincarnation of the old Leitz Trinovids. While they have their limitations, they are very easy to like. I like them. I like birding with them. And in the end, that probably counts, today as it did in the time of the Leitz, more than any small compromise you might make in ultimate optical performance . . . I have the feeling that most birders would rate the Eaglets as great binoculars."

This H-body center focus roof prism is fully waterproof – to completely eliminate any worries about spring showers or total downpours alike. The Eaglet has multicoated objective and ocular lenses (with high transmission magenta coatings on all other optical surfaces). There’s a clickstop diopter adjustment and internal center focus. Soft rolldown rubber eyecups complement its long 17mm eye relief for eyeglass use. The Eaglet has a soft vinyl case and is clad in dark gray rubber armor to protect against bumps and give a comfortable gripping surface in wet weather. It has a wide woven neckstrap and individual protective plastic caps for its objective lenses and eyepieces, but adding optional eyepiece rainguard #1299 would make it easier to keep the Eaglet’s eyepieces dry and ready for use during sudden showers. The Eaglet has an exceptional 4’ near focus (so close that many people can focus on their own feet), a good depth of field, and fast focusing (one quick turn of the focus knob moves from near focus to the horizon, which makes it easy to keep warblers sharply in focus as they move from branch to branch in nearby trees).

All of these features make the Eaglet well-suited for butterfly watching and close-in birding in heavily wooded areas.
