The 12mm Brandon provides a base power of 107x with these spotting scopes, and 160x using each scope’s built-in Barlow lens. The regular daytime use of these higher powers will be severely limited by haze and heat mirage in our atmosphere. These magnifications will be regularly usable with the 90mm Questar scopes at night, but only under ideal and accordingly very rare daytime atmospheric conditions. Do not plan on frequent daytime use of this eyepiece.

Contrast is excellent, as is the color correction, making it ideal for observing subtle color variations in plumage. Its high resolution makes small details in distant birds sharp and easily seen.

It has very short eye relief that will severely vignette the field for eyeglass wearers.

While the eyepiece will fit into a conventional 1.25" telescope eyepiece holder, the eyepiece barrel is threaded to screw into the diopter adjustment tube on Questar spotting scopes as a safety measure so that it can’t accidentally be lost in the field.
