| This waterproof roof prism Noble gives you high magnification and big light gathering, but weighs only 27 ounces, surprisingly light for a 50mm binocular. If you need a high power/all weather binocular that won’t weigh you down during all-day birding, this is one binocular to look at very closely. The close focus is a mere 9’, quite good for a 10x binocular. While most people don’t consider 10x optics to be useful for close-in observing of warblers and backyard feeders, this is one high power binocular that might change their mind. At its 9’ close focus, this Noble’s 10x magnification effectively puts you less than 11" away from your subject. But it is not just a close-in bino. The very high resolution and brightness of its 50mm objective lenses make it an inexpensive delight when it comes to examining the details and colors of distant birds in open field, lake, and shore-side birding. It is a surprising performer across a wide range of observing conditions, bright sunlight and dim twilight alike. Usable eye relief is a reasonable 15mm for eyeglass use. Curvature of field is minimal, and astigmatism and barrel distortion are quite low. The result is images that stay usably sharp across most of the field. The sharp images combine with good color rendition and minimal chromatic aberration for a view that is easy on the eyes during extended observing sessions. Overall, this is optically and mechanically a surprisingly good high power binocular at a very reasonable price. It’s easy on the eyes, easy in the hands, and easy on the budget. This Celestron has a lifetime no-fault warranty. H-body roof prism design with internal center focus. BaK-4 prisms for high light transmission. Its 6.5" length and moderate diameter prism housings make it easy to handle. Its light 27 ounce weight won’t weigh you down during all-day carrying. Large aperture multicoated optics. Large 50mm objective lenses gather almost 42% more light than a 42mm binocular for bright images in twilight or overcast conditions. The twilight factor is a whopping 22.36, far above the 17 recommended as a minimum for a low light binocular. Multilayer antireflection coatings have very good light transmission for minimum light loss in dim conditions. Waterproof and fogproof. Dry nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and fogproof in all temperature and climate extremes. Designed to operate reliably in rainforests and deserts alike. Armor. Ribbed black rubber armor absorbs noise and shock and provides a good grip when wet. Twist-up eyecups. A quarter turn of the rubber-rimmed eyecups retracts them into the binocular body for eyeglass or sunglass use, rather than rolling down. This eliminates the possibility of the eyecups drying out and cracking with age and use, as with conventional rolldown eyecups. A quarter turn in the opposite direction extends the eyecups for non-eyeglass use. Good eye relief. Its 15mm of usable eye relief gives only mild vignetting of the field for those who must wear eyeglasses while observing due to severe astigmatism. Those who don’t wear glasses will easily see the entire field with the eyecups retracted. Good close focusing. Only one and a quarter turns of the comfortably-large ribbed focus knob moves from a 9’ close focus out to the horizon. Rotary diopter correction. A continuously variable diopter ring on the right eyepiece allows you to match the binocular optics precisely to your individual eyesight for a sharp image. Wide neck strap. The comfortable wide woven neck strap makes the lightweight binocular even less of a burden to carry during all-day birding sessions. Tripod adaptable. A standard 1/4"-20 thread socket for attaching an optional tripod adapter is located at the front end of the binocular’s center hinge. A thread-in plastic logo plate covers the tripod socket when not in use.
