| This Celestron 8 x 42mm Outland is an inexpensive full-size roof prism binocular with features and performance that would have cost three or four times as much only a few short years ago. Fully sealed and nitrogen purged to be waterproof and fogproof, it will take an unexpected summer shower or a full downpour in stride. Its 42mm multicoated optics gather substantial amounts of light, making it a useful performer in the low light of twilight or under overcast lighting conditions. Usable eye relief is a very good 22mm, making it a good choice for those who must wear eyeglasses while observing. Overall, this is an optically and mechanically good binocular at a very reasonable price – easy on the eyes, easy in the hands, and very easy on the budget. Features of this binocular . . . Roof prism optics. H-body roof prism design with internal center focus. BaK-4 prisms for high light transmission. Multicoated optics. Multilayer antireflection coatings for good light transmission. Waterproof and fogproof. Dry nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and fogproof in all temperature and climate extremes. Designed to operate reliably in rainforests and deserts alike. Armor. Dark green and black rubber armor absorbs noise and shock and provides a good grip when wet. Molded-in finger ridges for a secure and comfortable grip. Twist-up eyecups. The rubber-rimmed eyecups retract for eyeglass or sunglass use. Good close focusing. Focuses as close as 8’, making it very suitable for close-in birding and butterfly watching, as well as long distance viewing. Rotary diopter correction. A variable diopter ring on the right eyepiece allows you to match the binocular optics precisely to your individual eyesight for a sharp image. Standard accessories. A neckstrap and soft neoprene carrying case are standard equipment. Tripod adaptable. A standard 1/4"-20 thread socket for attaching an optional tripod adapter is located at the front end of the binocular’s center hinge. A thread-in plastic logo plate covers the tripod socket when not in use. Lifetime warranty. This Celestron Outland has a lifetime no-fault warranty.
