| This quick release plate is supplied with the Manfrotto 128RC pan head and with tripods that use that particular pan head, as well as the 728B Digi tripod. It is available for separate sale to provide a second plate so you can quickly change from spotting scope to camera on your tripod without having to switch a single plate from scope to camera and back again. It is also available to replace a lost quick release plate. It has a standard 1/4"-20 thread camera/scope attachment bolt that fits into the 1/4"-20 socket in the mounting foot of your spotting scope. A folding D-ring key attached to the bolt under the quick release plate gives extra leverage so you can easily tighten it by hand. A chrome peg screwed into the quick release plate locks into a second non-threaded hole in the base of heavy video cameras to keep them from swiveling unexpectedly. The peg may prevent the firm seating of spotting scopes, however, as spotting scopes often don’t have the appropriately-spaced non-threaded second hole. The chrome peg should be removed from the quick release plate for spotting scope use. Click on the image below to see the D-ring key and the chrome peg. The plate has a non-slip rubber pad on the top and weighs 2 ounces.
