| This Meade equatorial wedge allows you to mount an 8" LX200 (or earlier 8" Meade SCT) in a polar mode on your telescope tripod. This permits long exposure deep space 35mm and CCD astrophotography with exposures greater than five minutes in duration without star trailing when (which is otherwise not possible the scope in its default altazimuth mode). Using the scope in the polar mode allows you to use the PPEC (permanent periodic error correction) circuit in the scope’s computer (which does not function when the scope is operate din the altazimuth mode). The wedge is not needed for short exposure lunar and planetary photography. The wedge comes with a deluxe latitude adjuster and azimuth fine adjuster for precise polar alignment. It also includes no-tool knobs for easy assembly of the wedge to your tripod and your telescope to the wedge, plus a compass for faster aligning on the pole. Made of die cast aluminum, with stainless steel hardware.
